323 The Wild Side
My neighbor came over yesterday afternoon and told me to grab my camera, that there was a large raccoon in his tree. He got tired of us taking his picture in the tree and came down. I snapped a couple when he started heading my way and I skedaddled up the driveway. He then went across the street and back across, up my driveway and then into my backyard. He took a drink out of the bird bath, wandered around a little and then took off across the fence to the neighbors. We were cautious in case he was rabid but he showed no signs of that.

Raccoons are so cute that is is hard to believe how dangerous they are! What a cute shot! My parents have baby raccoons in their back garage (not on purpose)! They can't even enter the garage without the mother hissing! They don't want to mess with her!!

Cautious?? You followed him across the neighborhood! He is absolutely adorable, though. Such a cute "harmless" face. I'd have followed him around, too.

Great pic for the theme. Raccoons are my favorite masked bandits! I always wanted a pet baby raccoon, lol.

I am afraid I would have pestered him too, we don't have those, just possums, I believe though that drinking is a good indicater that rabies isn't present as it is called hydrophobia which indicates an aversion to water in my mind.

Great close-up. I am scared of racoons, also.

Very cute indeed! We have a family of them squatting in our holly bush...usually come sneaking by the window late at night so I don't see them too often.

Great shot and so close. Caution is the key with these guys as they are about as predictable as a badger.

Great photo. It's too bad that the racoons are so destructive because they are cute.

I thought these guys were nocturnal? We only see them (and their beady little eyes) at night. But a daylight visit gave you a good photo opportunity...

That's being in the right place at the right time! He is adorable and looks like he was just waiting for you to snap the shot! Great pic!

Great photo for the wild side - and you are very brave to get that close to these beautiful, but nasty creatures.
